Electric Rc Airplanes

Should I use a gas engine or a electric for a RC airplane?

This is the first time I have ever made a RC airplane.
Can I use a just as powerful electric engine as a gas one?
How much does a powerful electric engine for a RC plane going to be.
What do you think?

The larger plane would be better on gas but gas engines will cost more money consider you have to have a glow ignitor, gas ($17/gallon) and something to refill it with. Electric is a better for the small plane since it won’t be as heavy and doesnt require anything extra to run other than a charger. The gases advantage is continuous flight so you can fly as long as you want as long as the engine doesnt overheat. Electric are restricted to about 14-20 min of flight time and a 45 min – 3 hr charge time. Electric allows more time for correction of errors while gas is stronger and runs faster at idle than electric so gas has less time to make corrections. The best bet would be electric for a small plane and gas for a large plane.
